One of the most eagerly awaited events in the South West food and drink calendar returns to Plymouth again this August for a packed three-day festival of mouth-watering food, drink and entertainment ...

Plymouth City Centre will be transformed into a bustling continental-style market, full of excitement, colour and the smells of delicious food being prepared as Flavour Fest returns for its fifth year, from Friday August 15 until Sunday August 17.

A highlight of the Plymouth Summer Festival, the free entry event is expected to attract huge crowds to the Piazza after proving to be a massive success over the last four years.

During that time it has firmly established itself as Britain’s biggest farmers’ market and the Westcountry’s largest free food and drink festival.

The event will once again boast a wide selection of stalls - packed with tasty offerings from fine food producers from across the South West.

Visitors can take their time browsing through the stalls, stocking up with their favourite ingredients or just relaxing with a freshly prepared snack while they pick up some top tips from the culinary stars on the cookery stage.

There’s a welcome return also, of the popular cookery theatre showcasing inspiring techniques by top chefs and Kids in the Kitchen which works to educate and inspire the chefs of tomorrow by allowing children to have a go at cooking their own food.

A first for this year will be the Olympic Food Village which will be located close to the city centre’s Olympic big screen. The Olympic Food Village will be showcasing delicious food from around the world made using local produce. Sporting personalities will also be dropping in to offer their advice on the perfect food for Olympic athletes.

Now in its fifth year Flavour Fest has a strong base of traders returning year on year.
Tony Marsland from Cornish Meadow Preserves has been attending Flavour Fest for the past three years. He said: “As a business that relies on well organised and well attended events, within a great location, Plymouth Flavour Fest ticks all the boxes.  Each year seems to get better and we look forward to the 2008 event.”
